Educational Therapy: Educational therapy involves tailoring the sessions to the student’s individual needs, focusing on cognitive deficits that contribute to learning struggles. For example, if a student is falling behind in several subjects, a portion of the session may be spent on understanding the underlying concepts and developing strategies for learning the content while other parts of the session will be spent on developing a stronger working memory or greater processing speed to create fluency in learning.
Testing: Academic testing and cognitive screening is available. These batteries of testing are helpful for identifying a student’s academic strengths and weaknesses, as well as learning more about how they learn.
Reading Support: 30-minute sessions. Reading support focuses on phonemic awareness and other cognitive areas that help make reading more fluent. This is best suited for the Kindergarten-2nd grade age range, or in conjunction with full educational therapy for those who need additional focus in this area. Other therapy and support sessions may be recommended to meet a child’s needs.
Consultations: First time consultations are for students who have been tested, but need to develop a course of action. Allow approximately one hour for this session.
Parent-teacher consultations: Fees vary for this service, as the time commitment is different for each situation. Preparation time, drive time, plus duration of meeting will be considered in this fee.
Curriculum consultations: Consultations to help determine the best course of action and/or curriculum planning for homeschooled students is offered.
Other therapy and support sessions may be recommended to meet a child’s needs.
